MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS & CATEGORIES
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES:
National Security Screen Association Membership makes a statement about your business to the industry and consumers. Eligibility requirements for National Security Screen Association Membership vary slightly depending on your selected category of membership. All membership applications must meet the eligibility standards approved by the National Security Screen Association Board of Directors.
Membership categories are based on the services provided by a company. The National Security Screen Association has 5 categories of Membership.

SALES & INSTALLATION - Your Business/Company: Sells and/or installs products that meet AS 5039.1:2023 or AS 5039-2008.

SALES MANUFACTURE & INSTALLATION - Your company sells, manufactures, sells and/or installs products that meet AS 5039.1:2023 or AS 5039-2008. Do so in your own facilities or under your direct control.

MANUFACTURE - Your company manufactures, sells and/or installs products that meet AS 5039.1:2023 or AS 5039-2008. Do so in your own facilities or under your direct control.

SYSTEM OWNER - Your company owns and/or promotes products that meet AS 5039.1:2023 or AS 5039-2008.

SUPPLIER - Your Company supplies components/material or services used in the testing, selling, manufacture or installation of products that meet AS 5039.1:2023 or AS 5039-2008.
MEMBERSHIP FEES:
For all Membership Categories, the annual fee is $660 - Sales & Install / $780 - Sales, Manufacture & Installation, Manufacture, System Owner, Supplier
- The annual membership period follows the financial year: 1 July to 30 June.
- You can apply for membership at any time. In this case, a pro-rata fee will be charged for the period to the end to the financial year.
LICENSING - SECURITY & BUILDING:
Licensing requirements for the security screen industry differ in each state and territory and are divided into two categories;
- Security Licensing
- Building Licenses
If your State or Territory requires licensing to sell, advertise, provide or install security screens, you will be requested to provide your license number on your membership application.
Don't have a licence?
You are welcome to submit a membership application, the National Security Screen Association will work with you and help guide you on attaining the required license for your state or territory.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MANUFACTURING MEMBERS:

Test Reports - AS5039.3:2023 Security Door and Window Screens, Part 3 Methods of Test or AS5041:2003 Methods of Test.

NSSA Members are required to have a Test Report provided by a NATA accredited laboratory for ALL security screening products you manufacture/sell.
- The Test Report confirms that the security screen product meets Australian Standards allowing it to be classified, advertised and sold as a security screen.
- Contact your system supplier for your test reports. All test reports are required for membership and annual compliance accreditation.

Technical Manual - For Compliant Manufacture
To ensure all security screen products are manufactured and comply with the Australian Standard AS 5039.1: 2023, the technical manual or work procedure documentation is simply the manufacturing or fabrication instructions used by staff. This can be your own work procedure/instruction manual or from a system supplier.

Compliance Labelling
- Once approved, all NSSA Members must label EVERY security screen and security door that meets AS 5039: 2008 or AS5039:2023. (Methods of Test).
- As of September 2024, all installations will now require a separate installation compliance label to be fitted after installing the security screen to comply with AS5039:2: 2024 (if the security screen meets AS5039:2023).
- The NSSA will guide you through labelling requirements and help you set up your compliance label account.
